Why Taru? tatin-lemppari

Although I’ve left the teaching of our youth to others, I still consider myself a teacher. I don’t agree with the concept of “former teacher.” My motto is “Once a Teacher, Always a Teacher.”

And so, I can help you educate your prospect in whatever type of self-improvement or self-help product landing page, article, blog, or FB post you’d like to create.

I’ve read about 20 self-help and self-improvement books in the past few years to make my transformation from a teacher to a copywriter and writer. My curiosity fuels me and I keep on reading to generate more energy and flow into my everyday life.

Who better to write for your prospect than someone who has been (and still is) your ideal prospect? Everyone wants to improve all aspects of their lives, learn more, create more energy and time.

They want to imagine themselves as imaginative, expressive, soulful beings. Which they are; every so often, someone (you and your business!) needs to nudge them onward and show them how.

Most people have learner’s mindset (whether they have a coveted degree of some kind or not), and they deserve to have someone write for them that understands all the triumphs, tribulations, and frustrations of having “been there, done that.”

Granted, many have “been there, done that,” but I also know how to write persuasively. And since I’m an empath, I have a knack for aligning your copy with a soothing, calm, and delightful feeling.

Great Marketing and Writing is Like Great Lesson Planning

My 10+ years of teaching will come in handy for creating any type of plan. After all, marketing and writing is a lot like coming up with a great lesson plan.

In any campaign (be it a landing page, content, web, or email) you need to ensure that you have all the great components of a stellar “lesson plan.” You need the following ingredients:

  1. Grab the prospect’s attention (Big Idea)
  2. Explain with a powerful picture (Big Promise)
  3. Offer lots of details (Benefits)
  4. State the objectives (Features/Claims, if applicable format)
  5. Offer Proof of Benefits, Features, and Claims
  6. End with a Strong Call to Action

As a direct marketing copywriter, I know how to make plans (ads, emails, long copy) that grab your prospect’s attention. If that doesn’t happen, remember – they won’t even read the rest of the copy.

But Wait—There’s More!

Not only do I have the creative drive from the author and teacher background but the logical background from my banking, bookkeeping, and Civil/Legal Clerk careers. And remember — I’ve been your prospect all my adult life!

I am a self-published co-author of two Differentiated Instruction books for Foreign Language and ESL teachers and students. Most recently I launched my first e-book The Happy Teacher Solution, a guided meditation book for teachers. While working at an accounting department of a bank, my co-workers asked me to write a guided meditation book for them. So I did: The Energized Accountant! Writing the books taught me valuable lessons in editing, web content, and marketing.

How Can Someone Be Less Biased?

As a BONUS, I bring my experiences as a language learner to the table. In Finland, where I’m originally from, students start learning a second language in the 3rd grade. I know – so cool! As you might know, Finland is continually in the top brackets in all the “testing” platforms. I bring a unique perspective in that regard. I have also lived in Germany and Cyprus before moving to the US.

And did you know that being multilingual makes a person less biased? That was an interesting research piece I learned while working on my Master’s Thesis.

In light of all of the above, I consider myself as close to a native speaker of English as anyone who has lived in America all their lives. Most people don’t even realize I’m a “foreigner” unless I tell them so. (Also, I became a citizen in 2005). I recently moved and now live in Helsinki, Finland, my hometown.

I take pride in having as close to perfect copy as possible, yet no one is perfect.

However, and since copywriting is a beast of its own, some grammar rules are relaxed, if only to make a point and have the text be easier to read. And yes, as an English teacher, that is a hard statement to make. 🙂
